Welcome to the homepage of Hydrology and Climate West Group, HydroClimWest, led by Tamar Richards-Thomas, Assistant Professor in Geography and Environmental Studies at the University of Regina, located in the beautiful Wascana Park within the city of Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada.
The long-term vision of our research program aims to advance our understanding of how atmospheric rivers influence the climate, weather, and hydrology in western Canada. We plan to achieve this by examining the changing impacts of these phenomena in the context of climate change, improving our networks for meteorological and hydrological observations, and utilizing machine learning to uncover intricate patterns and interactions. In the end, this program will enhance our ability to predict outcomes and provide the necessary insights to promote resilient infrastructure, inform evidence-based policies, ensure ecosystem sustainability, and facilitate long-term adaptation in society.
